KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia today registers 1,470 new Covid-19 cases, with Selangor hitting the highest number at 551.
This is followed by Sarawak with 222 fresh infections, Penang (178), Kuala Lumpur (158) and Johor (101).
States with fewer than 100 cases are Perak (72), Sabah (71), Kelantan (40), Perlis (29), Terengganu (14), Kedah (13), Pahang (eight), Negri Sembilan (six), Putrajaya (four), Melaka (two) and Labuan (one).
Today’s infections bring the nation’s cumulative cases to 322,409. Of the new cases, 12 are imported – eight Malaysians, four non-citizens.
The country also sees three Covid-19 fatalities today, bringing the death toll to 1,206.
New recoveries stand at 1,830, bringing the total recovered to 304,492. As of today, there are 16,711 active cases, 162 in intensive care and 70 needing ventilator aid.
In addition, there are two new clusters today.
The Jalan Mega Cemerlang cluster in Johor Baru originated from a patient who showed Covid-19 symptoms. It involves contact with family members and factory workers in Jalan Mega 1/6, Taman Perindustrian Nusa Cemerlang. Of the 54 individuals screened, 19 tested positive.
The Jalan Pria cluster in Titiwangsa and Cheras here is a result of a screening done on a symptomatic patient. The cluster involves a nursery in Jalan Pria 4, Taman Maluri in Kuala Lumpur. As of today, 37 individuals have been screened and 10 found positive. – The Vibes, March 13, 2021
