KOTA KINABALU – Sabah today recorded its lowest number of daily Covid-19 cases since the end of September.
Speaking during his media briefing today, Sabah government Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said 29 fresh infections was a stark improvement since state polls caused a devastating surge that spread to the rest of the nation.
He said 20 districts in Sabah also did not record a single case over the last 24 hours, with all other districts in the state, except Nabawan, exhibiting single digit infections.
“Even the Kota Kinabalu district which normally exhibits a high number of cases only recorded one case in the last 24 hours. This shows that if we all follow the rules and SOPs (standard operating procedures) laid down, we will get good results and when we slack off then there is a risk of the infections accumulating.
“I am pleased with the statistics we received today. While the statistics today make us happy, we also have to remind ourselves that things can change overnight depending on our behaviour.
“That is why I have constantly reminded Sabahans to observe all the government’s SOPs because it is our behavior that determines whether it (the trend) goes up or down.”
Masidi said although the number of Covid-19 infection cases in Sabah showed a downward trend, all citizens are asked to remain compliant to SOPs and fully adopt the new norms.
“I urge all Sabahans not to be complacent despite the downward trend as it can create another round of infections and this won’t help us overcome the problem in Sabah.”
He said now that more economic activities had been allowed in the state, it is more reason for all Sabahans to ensure that they comply with the SOPs. – The Vibes, March 15, 2021
