KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 cases today dipped to 1,063, the lowest this year.
Selangor still tops the list with 323 infections, followed by Sarawak (183) and Penang (175).
States with fewer than 100 new cases are Johor (91), Kuala Lumpur (86), Kelantan (67), Sabah (38), Kedah (32), Perak (24), Terengganu (23), Negri Sembilan (17), Pahang (2), and Melaka and Labuan (1 each).
Putrajaya and Perlis recorded no fresh infections.
The latest cases – four of which are imported – take the country’s overall coronavirus tally to 326,034.
There are 152 Covid-19 patients in intensive care, with 68 requiring breathing aid.
The Health Ministry said it recorded another five fatalities, all Malaysians, and 1,365 recoveries.
The death toll stands at 1,218, while total recoveries number 309,612.
Malaysia also recorded five new clusters, with 428 clusters still active.
The clusters with the highest increase in cases today are Medan Bayan Lepas (58), Jalan Nusa Mega (28) and Kemuning Enam (28).
Sarawak today registered three fresh clusters. The Jalan Kg Hilir cluster in Sibu logged 35 cases out of 41 individuals screened. The Naga Bulo cluster in Julau registered 34 cases out of 160 people screened, while the Jalan Sanyan cluster, involving supermarket workers in Sibu, saw all 19 screened returning positive results.
Kelantan’s Banggol Chicha cluster in Pasir Mas has recorded 17 cases out of 87 individuals screened.
Lastly is Kuala Lumpur’s Jalan Taiping cluster, which involves Kepong, Cheras and Titiwangsa, and affects employees at a public administration centre in Jalan Taiping. So far, eight out of 137 people screened have tested positive. – The Vibes, March 16, 2021
