KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia has amassed a whopping 330,042 in Covid-19 cases, including 1,576 fresh infections today.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said active cases now stand at 14,360, with 151 patients in intensive care and 57 requiring ventilator support.
The country also registers 1,996 recoveries and two fatalities today, bringing the death toll to 1,225.
Sarawak takes the lead in most daily cases with 407 fresh infections, followed by Selangor (348), Penang (182), Kuala Lumpur (175), Johor (137) and Perak (100).
States that have fewer than 100 cases are Melaka (54), Kelantan (52), Negri Sembilan (41), Sabah (33), Kedah (25), Pahang (13), Terengganu (6), Labuan (2) and Putrajaya (1).
Perlis has no new Covid-19 case today.
Dr Noor Hisham said Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak each recorded one coronavirus death, all involving Malaysians.
He said 298 cases today are related to detention centres involving the Semuja Immigration Depot cluster (146 cases), DTI Juru cluster (89), Tembok Muhasabah cluster (25), DTI Jalan Duta cluster (14), Tembok Pengkalan Chepa cluster (12), Telok Mas cluster (11) and Tembok Taiping cluster (1).
He added that the total number of clusters now stand at 1,288, including 12 new ones today.
A total of 13 clusters have ended today, namely the Jalan Indah Utama, Perindustrian Fasa Dua, Kg Teluk, Jalan Besar Pontian, Subang Delima, Batu 20, Santong Paka, Batu Tiga Setengah, Industri Puchong, Jalan Galah, Jalan Kota Murni, as well as Lebuh construction site and Jalan Tandok construction site clusters.
Dr Noor Hisham said 427 clusters remain active, with 64 clusters recording new cases.
The clusters with the highest number of fresh infections are the Semuja Immigration Depot cluster (146 cases), Jalan Pelabuhan cluster (94) and DTI Juru cluster (89).
He said 10 out of the 12 new clusters are related to workplaces, while two are from detention centres.
Selangor’s Hemisfera cluster in Petaling and Klang has 13 cases, and its Persiaran Cybersouth cluster in Sepang has 10.
Johor’s Lorong Usaha Utama cluster in Kulai and Johor Baru has 13 cases, while Kuala Lumpur’s Jalan Kepong cluster has 17, and its Jalan Daun cluster has eight. – The Vibes, March 19, 2021
