KUALA LUMPUR – Police are investigating claims that a politician with a Datuk title outraged the modesty of a businesswoman last year.
Ampang Jaya district police chief Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the report was lodged by the victim, 48, on March 16.
“The victim said the incident happened at her house in Taman Bukit Melawati here around July or August last year and the man, in his 50s, is a close friend of the victim’s husband,” he said in a statement today.
He said the woman claimed the man and his wife came to her house and spent the night there, and he allegedly committed the offence when the victim was sleeping in the living room.
“He reportedly left the house with his wife after realising that the victim was awake. The victim was afraid to make a police report over fears that it might destroy the relationship between the victim and the suspect, and she was also unsure about what to do as the suspect is an influential politician in an east coast state,” he said.
Farouk said no arrests have yet been made and police are still investigating the incident. – Bernama, March 21, 2021
