KUALA LUMPUR – The 2020 Umno General Assembly (PAUM20) will not have the event’s usual festive atmosphere due to Covid-19 standard operating procedures.
Party secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, in a statement, said the arrangement for the meet this weekend is in line with National Security Council guidelines.
“PAUM20 is historic because for the first time, it will be held physically and virtually. The physical meeting will take place at Dewan Merdeka in PWTC, and it will be held virtually in the 190 Umno divisions.
“No stalls or food trucks will be allowed to operate. As of March 23, there are 42 media organisations that have registered with us.
“Following the SOPs, no media outlet is allowed in the meeting halls. The media can cover the meetings virtually at Bilik Mawar, Level 2, PWTC.”
In a briefing to the press earlier, a party spokesman said coverage can be conducted via Umno Online, where the president’s address, as well as speeches and debates by the respective wings, will be carried live. – The Vibes, March 23, 2021
