KUALA LUMPUR – A former chairman of the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation’s (MCPF) Kuala Lumpur chapter and a crime prevention speaker were today charged at separate sessions courts here with criminal breach of trust and abetment involving a total of RM195,000.
Bok Siew Mun, 48, and Saiful Hamiruzzaman Mohd Hazir, 51, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out before judges Hasbullah Adam and Datin Sabariah Othman, respectively.
Before Hasbullah, former KL MCPF chief Bok was charged with misappropriating the foundation’s funds by ordering payments via cheques amounting to RM195,000 to Trio Green Hornet Sdn Bhd at Maybank’s Bandar Sri Permaisuri branch here between February 26 and May 31, 2019.
He was charged under Section 409 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum jail term of 20 years, whipping and a fine upon conviction.
Before Sabariah, Saiful Hamiruzzaman was charged with abetting Bok in committing the offence by submitting invoices belonging to Trio Green Hornet and signing the foundation’s payment vouchers at the same place and dates.
He was charged under Section 409 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 109 of the same code, which provides for the same punishment.
The court granted both accused bail at RM20,000 with one surety each, and set April 30 for mention.
