KUALA LUMPUR – Foreign workers who contribute to the Social Security Organisation (Socso) are eligible for benefits under the agency if they are involved in a work-related accident, said chief executive Datuk Seri Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed.
He said Socso is currently identifying the next of kin of the foreign workers involved in the recent crane collapse incident at the Sg Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) for benefit payment process.
“Socso will not wait for the victims’ next-of-kin to come (to Socso) for the claim process, instead the Socso Caring Squad will go to the ground to get details for the payment.”
In the incident, three Chinese nationals were crushed to death and a motorist was seriously injured when a gantry crane toppled over at the SUKE construction site at Jalan Alam Damai in Cheras on Monday. – Bernama, March 24, 2021
