KUALA LUMPUR – Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan hopes that this weekend’s 2020 Umno General Assembly will serve as a platform to put an end to all questions regarding in-house issues and its ties with other political parties.

He also hoped that all problems that have cropped up in Umno will be cleared up, thus strengthening the party before facing the 15th general election (GE15).

“This (putting an end to all questions) is very important to enable us (Umno) to be really prepared to face the people (in GE15).

“Perhaps (there are) hot issues that will touched on at the general assembly, but I am confident because Umno is a party that has been around for a long time and has a lot of experience or institutional memory to handle such issues,” he said on Bernama TV’s Ruang Bicara programme last night.

He said preparations for the general assembly are going smoothly to ensure that it is held in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The general assembly starts tomorrow and will be conducted in a hybrid format due to the pandemic, with a combination of some members being present physically and some attending virtually. – The Vibes, March 26, 2021
