KUALA LUMPUR – Claiming to be a victim of cyberbullying and defamatory statements, local celebrity Zarina Anjoulie Lavocah Mohd Fahizul is dragging Facebook to court to expose the real identities behind various social media accounts.

The Anak Pontianak star has filed an originating summons against Facebook Inc and Facebook Ireland Inc, seeking a court declaration that would reveal the identities of individuals running the Instagram accounts in question.

One of them is @z_arina_anjoulie__, which Zarina asserts is an imposter who uploaded a naked picture of a third party with the caption: “Oh no, whose naked photo is this, busted for giving her a sugar daddy.”

Meanwhile, another imposter with a similarly named Instagram account, @zarinaanjoulie2, also uploaded a nude photo of a third party with the words: “Use Allah’s name and then pose naked in front of a mirror with al-Quran wordings with Maembong and clan’s picture at the side. Nice going sister.”

“I intend to initiate an action against the said impersonating Instagram account owners and reveal their identities to defend myself against all possible allegations that have misused my name to impersonate me,” the affidavit by Zarina read.

Her harrowing online ordeal did not stop there, as Zarina pointed towards another Instagram account with the handle @amyzaaznankaaia.

She alleged the account belongs to Azizah @ Amyza Aznan, who incited followers to follow another Instagram user, @haunted_saka18.

Her beef with @haunted_saka18 stems from several defamatory statements the user made against her.

“The said Azizah has called on her Instagram followers, as well as the public at large, to follow the said account (@haunted_saka18) for the purpose of criticising and/or condemning me,” the affidavit said.

It is understood based on information attached to the affidavit that Zarina sued Amyza in April 2020, and won the suit on July 10.

In her affidavit, Zarina pointed towards the Instagram account @fara_mendoza, which she claims is owned by Norfaralina Md Yunus and has also made various defamatory statements.

The actress said she was initially sued by Norfaralina in January last year, and the case is ongoing. Zarina denies all allegations of defamation hurled against her.

“Around June 5, 2020, the said Norfaralina uploaded videos on her Instagram story alleging that I refused to pay her court claim amounting to RM10,000 and that I allegedly ran away,” the affidavit added.

Further, some time between December 2019 and January 2020, Zarina alleged that Norfaralina uploaded sexually explicit photos of her and the caption: “Eww CHEAPP!! Should have gotten divorce, b*tch!!”

“I believe that the activity log from the Instagram account with the username @fara_mendoza is needed in order for me to proceed with my action against the said Norfaralina, as there are many more uploads that defamed me and which I was not able to trace or view anymore,” the affidavit said.

Besides dragging Instagram owner Facebook Inc to court, Zarina also filed a complaint with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission on September 28, seeking to reveal the identities behind the Instagram accounts.

However, because Facebook Inc is not a licensee under Malaysia’s Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, it does not have the information Zarina requires.

It is understood, based on Zarina’s affidavit, that she requires the identities behind those Instagram accounts to take court action against them. – The Vibes, May 7, 2021
