Melaka politician under probe for holding event without getting NSC nod

MELAKA – Melaka police have opened an investigation paper on a state politician who allegedly organised a programme amid the third movement control order (MCO 3.0) without first obtaining permission from the National Security Council.

State deputy police chief Razali Abu Samah said a report was lodged at the Tg Minyak station over the event, held in Taman Rambai Jaya from 10am to 5pm yesterday.

He said officers will call up the organiser for questioning.

“Police had advised the organiser not to proceed with the programme, but it still went on.

“The investigation paper was opened under Regulation 16 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988. A probe paper was opened on the same organiser previously, for organising an event in Bukit Rambai on June 7,” he told a press conference here today.

Razali added that 895 compounds amounting to RM1.66 million have been issued for various violations of MCO 3.0 in the state. – Bernama, June 25, 2021
