KUALA LUMPUR – The country today logged 5,586 Covid-19 infections, making for a total of 734,048 since the pandemic began.
Selangor saw the highest caseload at 2,212, followed by Kuala Lumpur (628) and Sarawak (513), reported the Health Ministry.
Negri Sembilan saw 501 cases, Melaka (380), Johor (312), Perak (229), Sabah (190), Penang (138), Kelantan (133), Kedah (129), Pahang (118), Labuan (83), Terengganu (16) and Putrajaya (4).
Perlis is the sole state without fresh cases.
The ministry said another 60 fatalities were registered, taking total deaths to 4,944.
In a statement, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said more than half of the reported fatalities today are from Klang Valley, with 20 cases in Selangor and 16 in Kuala Lumpur.
The remaining deaths are reported in Kelantan (6), Johor (5), Negri Sembilan (4), Sarawak (3), Melaka (2), Pahang (2), Kedah (1) and Labuan (1).
Dr Noor Hisham said 17 new Covid-19 clusters have also been identified over the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 1,898, with 874 still active.
Of the 886 patients in intensive care, 446 require breathing aid.
Another 4,777 recoveries bring the overall figure to 667,709.
Of the new clusters, nine are related to the workplace, of which eight are in Selangor and KL.
There are six new community clusters, and a cluster each involving a high-risk group and a detention centre. – The Vibes, June 27, 2021
