KUALA LUMPUR – Travellers entering the island of Labuan will have to be required to undergo a mandatory Covid-19 test three days prior to departure date, effective July 1.

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said they must also be quarantined for up to 14 days upon arrival. 

He said this is part of the new measures implemented in view of the current coronavirus situation in the country.

“Labuan residents, as well as civil servants, will have to undergo 10 days of quarantine upon arrival into Labuan. Foreign arrivals into Labuan will have to undergo 14 days quarantine,” he said. 

Ismail Sabri said transport card users will have to undergo mandatory PCR tests every two weeks and undergo a mandatory RTK antigen test every week. 

He also said that sign-on is allowed for citizens only and they must undergo a 14-day quarantine with one RT-PCR test on the 10th day, while sign-off is allowed with a 14-day quarantine and one mandatory RT-PCR test.

“Preference will be given to individuals who have taken the Covid-19 vaccine.”

Ismail Sabri also said that goods boats (kapal kumpit) will not be allowed to disembark at Labuan for the time being. – The Vibes, June 29, 2021
