KUALA LUMPUR – The police have warned against those planning to congregate tomorrow following the release of a provocative video urging the people to assemble in protest.
Federal Police Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said in a statement that those who assemble are liable to action under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2021 and Prevention and Control of Infectious Disease Act 1988 (Act 342).
According to the National Security Council’s movement control order guidelines, social activities and gatherings are prohibited during the lockdown period.
The two-minute, 40-second-long video that went viral urged the public to assemble at selected locations in the Klang Valley, including Dataran Merdeka, palaces across the country and state Employees Provident Fund (EPF) headquarters tomorrow to protest against the government’s handling of the pandemic.
Participants were also told to wear black T-shirts while gathering in their vehicles. – The Vibes, June 29, 2021
