[UPDATED] 6,276 new Covid-19 cases, 4,929 recoveries, 62 deaths

KUALA LUMPUR – The country’s daily Covid-19 count remains above 6,000, with 6,276 infections recorded today.

Selangor leads with 2,836 cases, trailed by Negri Sembilan (644) and Kuala Lumpur (625).

Sarawak logged 376 cases, Johor (299), Sabah (242), Kedah (226), Melaka (223), Pahang (210), Kelantan (159), Perak (137), Labuan (132), Penang (131), Terengganu (20), Putrajaya (11) and Perlis (5).

In all, Malaysia has registered 751,979 coronavirus infections.

The Health Ministry also reported 62 deaths, making for a total of 5,170 since the pandemic began.

Of the 905 coronavirus patients in intensive care, 452 require respiratory assistance.

Another 4,929 recoveries make for a cumulative 682,680.

Dr Noor Hisham said the 62 deaths today involved 22 cases in Selangor, Negri Sembilan (9), Melaka (7) and Kuala Lumpur (5).

Sabah and Pahang recorded three deaths each, while Kelantan, Perak, Kedah, and Labuan saw two deaths each and Sarawak logged one fatality.

He said the country has seen a total of 2,844 clusters, including 23 clusters today.

A total of 41 of the deaths today were those aged above 60, including a 104-year-old woman in Jelebu, Negri Sembilan.

Dr Noor Hisham said 34 of the fatalities were male victims, while 28 of them were women.

He also said 52 of the deceased had comorbidities, while 10 did not have any known health complications.

Clusters that have ended are at 1,958, while 886 remain active.

He said 13 of the new clusters today are related to workplaces, eight from the community, one from a high-risk group, and another from an education institution.

Selangor recorded the Industri Jalan Ikan Duyung cluster in Klang with 37 cases, the Industri Subang Utara Enam workplace cluster in Klang and Petaling (28 cases), the Jalan PPS Satu workplace cluster in Klang (12 cases), and the Industri Jalan Masjid Batu Sembilan workplace in Kuala Langat and Klang with 186 cases, as well as the Jalan Emas Putih high-risk cluster in Klang (8 cases).

Kuala Lumpur registered the Perindustrian 33 workplace cluster in Kepong with 13 cases, the Pasar TTDI workplace cluster in Kepong and Cheras (11 cases) and the Jalan Prima Impian workplace cluster in Kepong (26 cases).

Penang saw the Jalan Thean Teik in its north-east area with 37 cases, while Johor logged the Perindutrian Murni Empat workplace cluster in Kulai (36 cases), the Jalan Penaga Industri workplace cluster in Johor Baru and Kota Tinggi (35 cases), the Batu 23 Choh workplace cluster in Kulai, Pontian and Batu Pahat (6 cases), the Perindustrian Rami Satu workplace cluster in Muar (22 cases), as well as the Parit Keroma community cluster in Muar (11 cases).

Perak recorded the Industri Bidor workplace cluster in Batang Padang with eight cases, while Kelantan logged the Kg Pangkal Jetas community cluster in Machang (19 cases), the Jalan 14/44 Padang Tembak community cluster in Kota Baru (16 cases) and the Kg Nibong Lemas community cluster in Pasir Mas (8 cases).

Sabah saw the Limbawang community cluster in Beaufort with 30 cases, while Sarawak recorded the Tema Saan community cluster in Tebedu with 42 cases, the Po Ai community cluster in Sri Aman (106 cases) and the Blimbing community cluster in Bau (35 cases).

Finally, Pahang logged the Meranti Indah education cluster in Bera with 16 cases. – The Vibes, June 30, 2021
