JOHOR BARU – The reshuffle of the PKR Youth leadership line-ups in Selangor and Perlis last Monday aims to provide opportunities for younger leaders, said PKR Youth chief Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir.

He said that it was also to ensure the continuity of the youth wing’s leadership in the two states.

“The current leadership (in the two states) will not continue to lead. So it is necessary to give space to the younger leadership so that when we finish holding office in 2023, they can inherit the leadership and as such shoulder their responsibilities from now on.

“I assessed that there needed to be a reshuffle (in the two states) after the recent PKR annual national congress and also for the upcoming general election because we want new line-ups.

“I want to remind my colleagues to avoid making this matter a subject of speculation,” he told reporters when asked to comment on the main reasons for the reshuffle here today.

Akmal said that the PKR Youth leadership had held discussions on the matter with the Selangor divisions and that a new candidate to replace dropped Selangor PKR Youth chief Najwan Halimi would be announced in the near future.

“Perlis will follow later, maybe next week or this weekend. The new leaders will organise their leadership line-ups later,” he said.

When asked if the PKR Youth leadership in other states would also be reshuffled, he said that any reshuffle would be based on needs and that assessments would be made first. – Bernama, June 30, 2021
