THE Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) in a statement today announced that it will be re-evaluating its business model. This is so to remain relevant and viable, especially in these changing times.
The Covid-19 pandemic has made this decision even more necessary. The persistent and unprecedented challenging marketing conditions have given them no choice but to revisit their strategy.

The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra gave its inaugural performance at Dewan Filharmoik Petronas (DFP) on August 17, 1998. Outstanding musicians from all over the world auditioned for a spot with the MPO in their worldwide audition tour.
It resulted in a symphony orchestra made up of musicians from 25 nations, including Malaysians.
A host of internationally acclaimed musicians have performed with the MPO. They include Lorin Maazel, Sir Neville Marriner, Yehudi Menuhin, Joshua Bell, Harry Connick Jr, Jose Carreras, Andrea Bocelli, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Chris Botti and Branford Marsalis. Many of them have praised the MPO for its fine musical qualities and vitality.
The MPO had, in the 23 years its curtains were raised, showcased exciting programmes of orchestral music. They were drawn from over three centuries, as well as the crowd-pleasing concert series.
