[UPDATED] Daily Covid-19 count breaches 7,000 again, 103 deaths logged

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 caseload is back above 7,000, with 7,654 infections recorded today.

Selangor saw a whopping 3,260 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,550) and Negri Sembilan (698).

Kedah logged 337 infections, Johor (313), Sarawak (286), Melaka (230), Sabah (225), Penang (185), Pahang (180) and Kelantan (118).

States with double-digit cases are Perak (94), Labuan (82), Terengganu (61) and Putrajaya (33).

Perlis saw two fresh cases.

The latest tally takes the country’s total count to 792,693.

The Health Ministry reported 103 new deaths, pushing up the toll to 5,677.

Of the 943 coronavirus patients in intensive care, 450 require breathing aid.

Another 4,797 recoveries make for a total of 714,815.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the 103 deaths today were recorded in Selangor (43), Kuala Lumpur (18), Negri Sembilan (12) and Johor (9).

Kelantan has six deaths, Pahang has four, and Melaka logged three.

Sarawak and Kedah recorded two deaths each, while Sabah, Perak, Labuan, and Penang have one death each.

He said the 11 clusters today were from workplaces, nine were from the community, and one cluster came from a detention centre.

In Kuala Lumpur, the Damanlela 2 construction site cluster in Kepong recorded 630 cases, the Bukit Kiara cluster in Kepong registered 16 cases, and the Razak Mansion market cluster in Lembah Pantai and Cheras recorded 12 cases.

Negri Sembilan logged the Industri Lorong Senawang Empat cluster in Seremban and Port Dickson with 324 cases.

The Industri Prai Lima workplace cluster located in several areas in Penang, Kedah and Perak registered 182 cases, and the Jalan Perusahaan Prai cluster in Seberang Prai Tengah in Penang logged 6 cases.

Perak registered the Jalan Baldwin Tiga cluster in Batang Padang and Kampar with 39 cases today, and the Pondok Tanjung cluster in Larut, Matang, Selama, and Kerian recorded 17 cases.

In Sabah, the Agora Borneo cluster in Kota Kinabalu recorded 19 cases.

Kelantan recorded the Jalan KK 6/2 Kubang Kerian cluster in Kota Baru with eight cases, the Kg Pewira cluster in Tanah Merah with 11 cases, and the Kg Gong Kulim Tengah cluster in Kelantan and Terengganu logged 16 cases.

Pahang registered the Kg Kerpal cluster in Rompin with nine cases today. Dr Noor Hisham also said Pahang recorded the highest Rt rate of 1.24 in the country.

In Johor, the Batu Tiga Bakri cluster in Muar logged 19 cases, the Panjang Sari cluster in Muar recorded 17 cases, and the Jalan Kolam Ikan Kluang cluster in Kluang logged 22.

Selangor logged the Jalan Cempaka Ampang cluster in Hulu Langat with 25 cases, the Parit Sebelas cluster in Sabak Bernam with 18 cases, and the Pagar Langat cluster in Kuala Langat recorded 13 cases.

In Sarawak, the Jalan Sagang community cluster in Bau lodged 30 cases, while the Sg Sengkabang cluster in Subis recorded 58 cases. – The Vibes, July 6, 2021
