KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R0) as of July 9 stood at 1.11, having logged above 1.0 since June 29.
In a tweet last night, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country’s R0 of 1.11 is up from the 1.09 registered on July 8.
Putrajaya saw the highest R0 at 1.19, followed by Perak (1.17), and Selangor and Kuala Lumpur (both 1.16).
The administrative capital yesterday recorded another 16 coronavirus infections, Perak (241), Selangor (4,400) and Kuala Lumpur (1,271).
Other states with an R0 above 1.0 are Kedah (1.13), Pahang (1.11), Sabah (1.10), Terengganu (1.08), Melaka (1.05) and Negri Sembilan (1.04).
Malaysia saw an all-time high of 9,180 cases yesterday, with most of the country still under lockdown.
Dr Noor Hisham said the nation recorded another 77 deaths, and of the 959 patients in intensive care, 465 are on ventilators.
Active cases stand at 80,665 currently.
Dr Noor Hisham said the national R0 for July 8 was 1.09, with Putrajaya registering 1.28, followed by Perak (1.18), Kuala Lumpur (1.16), Selangor (1.14), Pahang (1.10), Kedah (1.08), Sabah and Penang (both 1.07), Melaka (1.06), Terengganu (1.04) and Negri Sembilan (1.02). – The Vibes, July 10, 2021
