KUALA LUMPUR – The International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) has made it mandatory for all manufacturing and factory workers to undergo an Antigen Rapid Test Kit (RTK-Ag) swab test twice a week in areas under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).
Its minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, said the measures are to enable the identification of Covid-19 infections earlier, in addition to allowing those who test negative to travel to their respective workplaces.
“Employers should cooperate and take responsibility by bearing the full cost of the swab tests.
“I call upon all employers not to take advantage of the offer provided by the ministry. This is because many have continued to breach the set SOPs and have taken such matters very lightly,” he said in a statement today.
Azmin added that strict SOP measures are required, alongside practical action, to prevent the spread of Covid-19 at workplaces. – The Vibes, July 12, 2021
