KUALA LUMPUR – Pejuang has pooh-poohed speculation that the party has any intentions to team up with Bersatu again.
Pejuang information chief Ulya Aqamah Husamudin said there have been attempts from other parties hinting at the cooperation with Bersatu.
“These actions are irresponsible and are fake news. Tun Dr Mahathir (Mohamad) has firmly rejected this allegation,” he said, referring to the new Malay-based party’s founder.
Ulya added that the party never discussed such tie-ups and is focused on addressing the Covid-19 pandemic within the framework of the National Recovery Council that was proposed by the party.
“If Pejuang intended to cooperate with Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional (PN) again, we would not have tried to get approval for the party. We’d be better off going back to the old party,” he added.
Ulya also addressed the conspiracy around the registration of Pejuang that has been sensationalised by some other parties.
“It’s clarified that the registration of Pejuang on July 8 is in line with the decision of the court which gave the Home Ministry 14 days to decide on our registration appeal.
“This is the court’s decision, there is no backdoor discussions or political chess going on.
“We’re focused on discussing and finding solutions to the Covid-19 pandemic and the health, economic and social problems that are the priority for Malaysians.”
Negri Sembilan Bersatu advisor Tan Sri Rais Yatim hinted at possible cooperation between Bersatu and Pejuang on Twitter yesterday.

Meanwhile, Bersatu supreme council member Datuk Rosol Wahid did not deny two days ago the possibility of Pejuang joining PN, saying that anything can happen in politics. – The Vibes, July 13, 2021
