IPOH – More people in Perak will receive the Covid-19 vaccine once the supply from the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry arrives as scheduled next week.

Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad said he was confident that the number of recipients would increase and the vaccine doses would also be sufficient for all the state’s people when the supply arrives.

“The vaccination process goes on as scheduled. For the following week, if the ministry will supply the vaccine as scheduled, we will increase the number of vaccine recipients,” he said in a virtual press conference from his office today.

Saarani was previously reported to have said that the state could give as many as 25,000 to 30,000 jabs a day after receiving 688,000 doses of vaccines this month.

Perak now has 101 vaccine administering centres comprising 31 public centres and government hospitals, as well as at 70 clinics and private hospitals.

The Menteri Besar’s Office said that to date, a total of 508,667 people have received the first dose (27.31%) of vaccine and 282,729 people have received the second dose (15.18%).

Saarani said the state government was working to increase the number of vaccine recipients to 40% soon so that the state could move to Phase Three of movement controls under the National Recovery Plan more quickly by increasing the vaccination rate. – Bernama, July 14, 2021
