[UPDATED] 10,972 fresh Covid-19 cases, 6,439 recoveries, 129 deaths

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia today logged 10,972 Covid-19 cases, a slight increase from yesterday’s 10,710.

Selangor once more sees the highest caseload by state with 4,404 infections, followed by Negri Sembilan (1,340) and Johor (876), said the Health Ministry.

Kedah registered 705 cases, Sabah (651), Kuala Lumpur (609), Pahang (475), Melaka (474), Penang (426), Perak (324), Sarawak (301), Kelantan (170) and Terengganu (144).

Putrajaya saw 48 cases, Labuan (24)  and Perlis (1).

In all, the country has recorded 927,533 infections since the pandemic began.

Of the fresh cases, 6,337 are in Category 1, 4,464 (Category 2), 103 (Category 3), 42 (Category 4) and 26 (Category 5).

The ministry reported another 129 coronavirus fatalities, pushing up the toll to 7,148.

Of the 915 patients in intensive care, 435 require breathing aid.

Overall recoveries stand at 791,388 with the 6,439 recorded today.

The national infectivity rate (R0) is 1.18, while the state with the highest reading is Terengganu at 1.27, followed by Putrajaya (1.26), Kedah (1.24), Sabah (1.21), Selangor (1.17), Penang and Pahang (both 1.16), Negri Sembilan and Kuala Lumpur (both 1.15), Melaka and Perak (both 1.12), and Kelantan (1.1).

States with an R0 of below 1 are Sarawak (0.93), Labuan (0.77) and Perlis (0.00).

On clusters, the ministry said 920 remain active, including 31 identified today.

Eighteen of the fresh clusters involve worksites in Johor, Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Kedah, Perak, Sabah, Selangor and Pahang, with a total of 966 infections.

Eight community clusters were identified in Johor, Kelantan, Pahang, Sabah, Sarawak and Terengganu, totalling 172 cases.

Two clusters involving high-risk individuals were identified in Kuala Lumpur and Melaka, involving 54 infections.

A further two clusters were found in Melaka with 72 infections.
