KUALA LUMPUR – The government has agreed to amend the standard operating procedures for Phases 1 and 2 of the National Recovery Plan on the back of an improved national Covid-19 vaccination rate.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a statement this evening said under Phase 1, daily and wet markets’ operating hours will be extended from 6am to 4pm, subject to local governments’ discretion and under Rela officers’ supervision.
“The operating hours for controlled fresh markets will be extended from 7am to 2pm.”
Among the changes in SOPs for Phase 1 are:
- Attendance of civil service personnel in office increased to 40%, subject to the chief secretary to the government’s directive;
- Accounting services allowed to resume operations at 60% capacity;
- Bicycling and solo activities allowed in residential areas, with physical distancing of 2m to 3m observed;
- Port, airports and the logistics sector allowed to operate for 24 hours; and,
- Mining and quarrying operations allowed at 60% worker capacity and subject to industry-related SOPs, so as to fulfil the demands of critical projects involving the maintenance and construction of rural and federal roads.
Ismail Sabri said under Phase 2, film shoots outside studios are permitted with strict SOPs in place.
“Business premises are allowed to operate between 6am and 10pm, including specialty stores such as petrol stations.”
He said the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) will be implemented in 27 localities in several states from July 21 to August 3. They are:
- Bandar Cheneh Baru and Felda Neram 2 in Mukim Bandi, Kemamam, Terengganu;
- 10 localities in Kuala Dungun, Terengganu, namely Kg Sg Buaya, Kg Tanah Lot, Kg Lembah, Kg Padang Jambu, Kg Nibong, Kg Bukit Chatak Tengah, Kg Molek, Kg Bijangga, Kg Sg Udang and Kg Sg Penaga;
- Kg Marau, Sipitang; Kg Pituru Kinarut, Papar; and, Kg Meruntum, Putatan, Sabah;
- Four localities in Kota Kinabalu; Jalan Kg Likas Simpang 3; Api-Api Centre Kota Kinabalu; Taman Ujana Kingfisher, Likas; Kg Salut, Telipok; and, Kg Kebawang, Sipitang in Sabah;
- Two localities in Penampang, Sabah, namely Beverly Hills Fasa 2 and Cybercity Fasa 2;
- Three localities in Ulu Dong, Raub, Pahang, namely Kg Bedu, Kg Temalian and Kg Pamah Kulat; and,
- Two localities in Ulu Jelai, Lipis, Pahang, namely Kg Kabang and Kg Sat.
The EMCO has been extended for Sg Udang Prison to August 3, but not its housing quarters.
The order will be lifted in several locations from tomorrow.
They include Kg Bagus, Rantau Panjang, Kelantan; Kg Mambong, Kuching, Sarawak; Kg Baru Batu 2 Jalan Apas in Tawau, Kg Ejuk in Kota Belud and Kg Warisan in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah; as well as seven localities in the Senai Industrial Park, Kulai, Johor. – The Vibes, July 19, 2021
