KUALA LUMPUR – Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin will be the first minister to brief the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) when it recommences its proceedings on July 27.

PAC chairman Wong Kah Woh in a statement today said Khairy is scheduled to brief the committee on “the Covid-19 vaccine procurement and its inoculation on Malaysians”.

The proceedings are set to continue on July 28, he said, with PAC calling Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, as well as Accountant-General Datuk Yacob Mustafa.

The committee had initiated the proceedings on January 5, following briefings by Khairy and Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, he added.

“Taking into account the latest developments regarding the procurement of the vaccine during the six-month emergency period, PAC believes that the government should provide a more detailed explanation to the committee considering that the scenario has changed compared to January.

“PAC is committed to preparing a report on this issue and present it to Parliament latest by the second meeting in the fourth term of the Dewan Rakyat session from October to December.” – The Vibes, July 21, 2021
