[UPDATED] 450 beds set for Selayang Hospital as it becomes full Covid-19 facility

KUALA LUMPUR – Selayang Hospital will have 450 beds set up in 48 hours for patients as the hospital is now a full-fledged Covid-19 facility. 

In a statement issued by Deputy Health Director-General (Public Health) Datuk Dr Chong Chee Kheong, efforts will be focused on ensuring the hospital has adequate oxygen supply, medicines and other supplies.

He added that other patients will be transferred to private hospitals in the same district to make room for Covid-19 patients that are in Categories 3, 4, and 5.

He said in a statement today that the Greater Klang Valley Task Force has been set up to handle the increase in Covid-19 admissions as well as the burden on the healthcare system.

The task force will focus on clinical care, self-monitoring, epidemiology, logistics and a frontliner support system.

However, Chong said Covid-19 tests will prioritise individuals that are symptomatic, while all symptomatic cases will still have to be evaluated either through phone or physically at their nearest Covid-19 Assessment Centre or district health office.

For asymptomatic cases, patients will be directed to undergo home quarantine for 10 days and report through phone or via the Home Assessment Tool in the MySejahtera, e-Covid, or Selangkah apps.

For close contacts without symptoms, it is advised that they undergo an RTK-Ag at a clinic or use a self-test kit.
