KUALA LUMPUR – Newly minted Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein will be taking over Covid-19 related announcements, which used to be issued daily by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

In a statement today, Ismail Sabri said Hishammuddin will be taking over the task of presenting daily updates on the movement control order and its standard operating procedures, as Hishammuddin has been appointed senior minister while Ismail Sabri was promoted to deputy prime minister.

“Since March 20, 2020, I have held the responsibility as senior defence minister to make daily announcements regarding the Compliance Operation Task Force and the enforcement of the law under Act 342 nationwide to control the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has been issued daily for one year, four months, and six days,” said Ismail Sabri.

“Thanks to all who were involved during my time, starting from members of the administration, ministries involved, agencies, frontliners, and Malaysians who want a Covid-19-free Malaysia.

“Thanks to all members of the media as well for reporting the developments.” – The Vibes, July 26, 2021
