KUALA LUMPUR – Long lines of foreigners spotted outside the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) vaccination centre have made people worried, as photos and videos circulate online.

The queues are seen to stretch more than 2km in the area.

KLCC has been designated as one of the vaccination centres by the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

It is understood that the vaccination centre is also part of the Public-Private Partnership Covid-19 Industry Immunisation Programme (Pikas).

Pikas is a programme launched under the International Trade and Industry Ministry on June 16 to ramp up vaccination of workers in the manufacturing sector.

However, it is unsure if the lines at KLCC today are those seeking jabs under Pikas.

One netizen has alleged that the long lines have been a common sight for the past three days.

“This is my everyday route to go to my building from LRT KLCC so can you imagine these three days I've been facing this situation. I’m scared!” @shezerazezan said.

Another netizen who also shared photos questioned the point of vaccinating if those waiting in lines are not adhering to physical distancing.

“Excuse me @KKMPutrajaya what’s the point of giving out vaccines if the vaccination centres AREN’T social distancing or following SOP???? This is at KLCC today btw !!” @INTANFML said.

Meanwhile, a video posted by @isurakyatmy showed the presence of police personnel supervising the lines.

@juliahjohan said the lines may deter others from attending their vaccination appointments at KLCC. – The Vibes, July 28, 2021
