KUALA LUMPUR – Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun has decided to recuse himself from deciding on a motion proposed by Ipoh MP M. Kula Segaran.
Azhar said his office received the lawmaker’s letter on the motion on Thursday.
“The motion contains matters connected to Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun, who, as the public knows, is my elder brother,” said the speaker in a statement today.
Azhar said he is leaving it to his two deputies, Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon and Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, to decide on the motion.
“I will not interfere in any way in the deputy speakers’ discharge of duties in matters related to this.”
Kula Segaran, in his letter to the Dewan Rakyat secretary, proposed a motion to take action against Law Minister Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and Idrus for allegedly misleading the House. – Bernama, July 31, 2021
