[UPDATED] Walk-in vaccination at selected PPVs in Klang Valley to start Monday

KUALA LUMPUR – Walk-in vaccination will be available at selected vaccination centres (PPVs) in the Klang Valley on Monday, said National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

Khairy said the initiative will kick off after Operation Surge Capacity ends in the Klang Valley tomorrow.

“The walk-in vaccination initiative will be opened according to categories on August 2, starting with those aged 40 and above, and those with comorbidities.

“On August 5, we will open it to all individuals aged 18 and above,” he told the media after inspecting a vaccination drive for Chinese nationals here today.

Khairy said the details of the initiative will be announced by the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) soon.

To prevent the dissemination of fake news, the public is reminded that not all PPVs will accept walk-ins, he added.

“CITF will announce the list of PPVs (soon), ones that are open (for walk-in vaccination). Do not assume that all PPVs (in the Klang Valley) are open for walk-in.”

Khairy said the walk-in vaccination process will be on a “first-come, first-served” basis depending on the capacity of the respective PPVs.

Those who turn up, but cannot get vaccinated will be given priority to get their shots the next day, he added.

He said this initiative is only for those who have yet to get their vaccination appointment, cancelled their appointment or have yet to register.

“We are confident that by tomorrow, 99% of the adults registered (for vaccination) in the Klang Valley will have obtained their appointments.

“This is not to say that in August there will be no vaccination at all in the Klang Valley.

“There will, of course, be second dose vaccinations, but there will be first dose vaccinations, as well. There will be people we missed out.”

Meanwhile, The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) in a statement today said the PPVs are the KL Convention Centre, HCO F, HCO G and HCO H; Bangi Avenue Convention Centre; Wyndham Hotel, Klang; Dewan Tun Razak, Sabak Bernam; Serendah Community Hall; Mövenpick Hotel & Convention Centre KLIA and Ideal Convention Centre, Shah Alam.

It added that among the documents required as proof of residence in the Klang Valley is their address on tier identity cards, driving licence, any utility bills or credit cards, employee cards, student cards, letter of agreement or others.

“Comorbid individuals are asked to bring any evidence to show they are comorbid such as treatment or appointment cards.”

CITF also said in the same statement that non-citizens in the Klang Valley are eligible for walk-ins from August 9, though they can only do this at the National Stadium PPV in Bukit Jalil from 2pm every day subject to operating schedules. 

“For non-Malaysians aged 40 and above as well as those in comorbid groups in the Klang Valley the date is from August 9 to 11 while August 12 to 22 is for all non-Malaysians aged 18 and above in the Klang Valley,” it said.

CITF added that non-citizens without recognised identity or migration documents such as refugees, asylum seekers and victims of human trafficking will have to go through a specific process issued through its guidelines. – Bernama, July 31, 2021
