GEORGE TOWN – Following Covid-19 infections among Sri Ivory Apartment residents, Paya Terubong assemblyman Yeoh Soon Hin is urging people to come forward for a mass screening tomorrow.
“A number of residents have tested positive for Covid-19. As such, in compliance with health protocols, immediate action was taken by arranging for a mass swab test on August 2, from 2pm to 6pm, at the fourth-floor auditorium in Block 3,” he said in a statement yesterday.
He said Paya Terubong is in Mukim 13, a coronavirus hotspot on Penang Island that has seen 361 cases between July 16 and 29.
“Even fully vaccinated individuals can still get infected with Covid-19. Hence, it is important for communities to get tested from time to time.”
For the free screening, Sri Ivory Apartment residents need only bring their identification card and register here.
They are reminded to wear a mask and abide by health and safety standard operating procedures during testing.
Meanwhile, exco Jagdeep Singh Deo encourages the public to participate in the Penang Covid-19 Screening (PSC-19), a free targeted community testing initiative in all 40 state constituencies.
“Even if you are vaccinated, that does not mean you are invincible to the virus. Go get screened.”
PSC-19 has been increased from four to seven days a week, with two screening locations every weekend.
