KUALA LUMPUR – PAS Youth has lodged a police report pressing for investigations into the parties responsible for leaking a letter the Yang di-Pertuan Agong sent to the prime minister on Thursday regarding the revocation of the emergency ordinances.
PAS Youth deputy chief Ahmad Fadhil Shaari urged other members of the wing to follow suit.
“PAS Youth views the matter seriously and urges police to investigate it and identify the source of the leak.
“A police report has been lodged to press for an investigation on whether there were elements of treachery and sabotage in the distribution of the letter.”
In a statement today, Fadhil said the dissemination of the letter, dated July 29, is a serious matter that threatens the nation’s stability and harmony.
“If the letter does exist, it is a confidential letter and should only be read by the recipient, the PM.
“The act of some opposition leaders uploading and spreading the letter is a matter that contradicts the Official Secrets Act,” he said.
A statement on the matter was issued by Istana Negara through its official Facebook page on July 29.
Fadhil said that the act has created polemics and commotion among the people, portraying an ongoing conflict between the palace and the executive.
“Space should be given to both parties to resolve the issue based on the federal constitution, rather than adding fuel for further clashes.
“PAS Youth takes this matter seriously and calls for police to probe into the cause of the leak.” – The Vibes, August 1, 2021
