KUALA LUMPUR – The country’s Covid-19 tally today climbed back up to 17,105, making for 1,163,291 infections since the pandemic began.
Selangor logged 5,836 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,309) and Johor (1,275), reported the Health Ministry.
Kedah saw 1,036 cases, Sabah (1,010), Perak (967), Kelantan (915), Negri Sembilan (816), Penang (798), Pahang (628), Melaka (508), Sarawak (494) and Terengganu (429).
Putrajaya registered 72 infections, Perlis (7) and Labuan (5).
The ministry said another 195 deaths push up the toll to 9,598.
Of the 1,066 coronavirus patients in intensive care, 537 require breathing aid.
Total recoveries stand at 950,029 with the 12,297 recorded today.
Meanwhile, the nation’s infectivity rate, or R-naught, value currently stands at 1.07.
The state with the highest infectivity rate is Terengganu at 1.3, followed by Kelantan (1.25), Perak (1.20), Sabah (1.19), Kedah (1.18), Penang (1.17), Johor (1.14), Kuala Lumpur (1.13), Pahang (1.11), Putrajaya (1.11), Selangor (1.08), Sarawak (1.08) and Melaka (1.06).
Only Negri Sembilan continues to record an R-naught value less than one at 0.91, while Perlis and Labuan registered a value less than zero.
As for clusters, the Health Ministry reported that 1,143 remain active, including 30 new ones identified today.
Fourteen of the new community clusters in Kelantan, Kedah, Terengganu, Sarawak, Sabah, Pahang, Selangor and Perak contributed 394 Covid-19 cases.
Meanwhile, another 14 clusters concern worksites in Selangor, Johor, Negri Sembilan, Sarawak, Pahang and Perak, which all registered 719 infections.
