KUALA LUMPUR – Between the end of July and yesterday, eight more Covid-19 cases have been detected – of which three were close contacts – while six samples from the Parliament screening are highly likely to have been the Delta variant.

The screening was conducted in Parliament from July 26 to 29.

In a statement, the Health Ministry said among 8 cases from Parliament that were reported between July 30 and August 5, five cases had a CT value between 18.00 and 27.68, and three had a CT value between 35.14 and 37.59.

Four cases showed light symptoms whereas the rest did not exhibit any symptoms.

Seven of these individuals had already been vaccinated with at least one dose, and one case involved a child aged seven who contracted the virus through a close contact, and is not yet eligible to be vaccinated.

In total, the Health Ministry identified 85 cases via RT-PCR screening that arose from the Dewan Rakyat special sitting.

Of which 56 were detected in a pre-sitting screening while four were close contacts. A total of 17 cases were detected during the sitting – nine were previously disclosed, five recorded between July 30 and August 5, and three close contacts. Lastly, eight were detected in a pre-Dewan Negara screening. – The Vibes, August 6, 2021
