BUTTERWORTH – A teenager working at an ais kacang stall here endured the longest 25 minutes of his life when his hand got stuck in a shaved ice machine.

After an agonising wait, firefighters finally freed the 18-year-old’s left hand from the machine at a stall in Jalan Permatang Tok Jaya, Pekan Darat, at 12.22pm.

The Butterworth Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call from Muhammad Amirul Fahmi Norshakir’s employers and arrived at the scene at 11.55am.

Senior officer Mohd Yusof Mohammad said his team used rescue tools to release the victim’s hand that was stuck between parts of the machine. No injury was reported.

He said a customer, for whom the youth was preparing a bowl of ais kacang, waited throughout the ordeal, and was eventually rewarded with the cold dessert. – The Vibes, August 8, 2021
