KUALA TERENGGANU – The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry has advised the public to lodge official complaints with the ministry if traders raise the price of mineral water and water containers, especially in areas experiencing water supply disruptions.
Deputy Minister Datuk Rosol Wahid said the ministry had recently received information that price increases took place around Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu, but no one had come forward to lodge an official complaint.
“They can make a report to the ministry through various platforms such as WhatsApp and phone calls.
“So far there are no official reports, only verbal complaints, and the price hike happened in village areas, probably due to a decrease in mineral water supply while demand is high,” he told reporters after handing over 530 food baskets to residents in Manir affected by the enhanced movement control order enforced there since Thursday.
Residents in Kuala Terengganu and Kuala Nerus have been facing water supply disruptions since Monday due to a burst pump at the Sg Terengganu riverbed affecting 28,700 account holders in the two districts. – Bernama, August 8, 2021
