BAGAN DATUK – Bagan Datuk Umno Youth has lodged a police report over several provocative banners against party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi put up around town today.
Its chief Mohd Rizan Razali said he received information on the banners about 7.30am and lodged a report at 3.30pm.
The banners, displaying Zahid’s face and carrying provocative words, were seen in 17 locations, including three outside Bagan Datuk, namely in Batak Rabit and Seberang Perak, and on the Sultan Yusuf Bridge in Teluk Intan.
“These banners were put up with the intention of insulting, humiliating and defaming Zahid, who is also Bagan Datuk MP,” said Rizan after lodging the report at the Hutan Melintang police station.
“This is a very irresponsible, politically motivated act to give a bad perception of Zahid.”
Accompanying him were representatives of the division’s Wanita and Puteri wings, as well as committee members.
Hilir Perak district police chief Ahmad Adnan Basri confirmed receiving the report, and said a probe is under way. – Bernama, August 11, 2021
