KUALA LUMPUR – Despite the country being in the hands of a caretaker prime minister, the leader of the civil service has sought to signal that it is business as usual.
In a Facebook post, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali said he chaired an online meeting with heads of the civil service to ensure daily government operations remain unaffected.
“Every agency and ministry will continue to focus on efforts linked to economic recovery and policy implementation to ensure the lives and livelihoods of the people.
“God willing, our country will continue to be governed well with the commitment from all sectors, including security, defence, health and education.
“I, along with the public service DG, attorney-general, defence forces chief, police chief, health DG, education DG, National Security Council DG, public works DG and others, will continue to do our jobs to the best of our ability, for the benefit of the people.”
His assurance comes after Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his cabinet resigned yesterday, leading to a caretaker government.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong is slated to meet all political party chiefs and the speakers of both houses of Parliament today.
