KOTA KINABALU – Keningau MP Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan called on the ninth prime minister and future cabinet to prioritise the restoration of constitutional rights in Sabah and Sarawak, in line with the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63).
The Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku president said his party hopes that the new leader will follow in the footsteps of predecessor Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is sympathetic towards the struggle of Sabah and Sarawak.
“Ideally, all the local parties in Sabah and Sarawak must work together as one. This is an opportunity to consolidate our political voice and free ourselves from the financial and political dependence on the federal government,” he said in a statement today.
The Sabah deputy chief minister also expressed dismay over the ongoing political turmoil in the peninsula.
“It is incredibly improper and irresponsible to play politics at a time when we should be doing everything we can to ease the people’s sufferings and boost the economy.
“Unfortunately, things are already in motion. I am hoping for the best possible outcome for Sabah and Sarawak.” – The Vibes, August 17, 2021
