KLANG – The Social Security Organisation (Socso) has made benefit payments amounting to RM4.2 million to date to 1,395 contributors of the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SKSPS) since it was launched in 2017.
Socso SKSPS department head Azhar Md Nadzri said there are eight types of benefits provided under SKSPS for contributors or the next of kin of contributors involved in workplace accidents.
“The eight types of benefits are medical, temporary disability, permanent disability, dependents, funerals, education, facilities for physical/vocational rehabilitation, and constant-attendance allowance, with contributions as low as RM157.20 a year or RM13.10 a month,” he told the media here today.
He was speaking at the presentation of Socso benefits to Mat Nazir Abu Hassan, 53, the father of food deliverer Muhammad Nazirul Mubin Mat Nazir, 21, who died in an accident on a highway in Shah Alam near here on Aug 11.
Azhar said the deceased was eligible to receive two Socso benefits, namely a survivor’s pension and dependents’ benefit for contributing under the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 (Act 4), as well as to SKSPS via SPS Lindung since July 1.
His contributions enabled his next of kin, namely his father, mother, and three siblings to receive the benefits.
Besides that, Azhar said the late contributor also received a funeral benefit amounting to RM2,000. – Bernama, August 19, 2021
