KUALA LUMPUR – The total number of passengers allowed in a vehicle for those who have received both Covid-19 vaccine doses will now be according to vehicle seating capacity in states under Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
The relaxation, which came into effect yesterday, was shared by the National Security Council (NSC) in a Telegram message on Phase 1 standard operating procedures (SOP).
Nonetheless, inter-district and interstate movements are still not allowed except for long-distance couples, those visiting children under 18 years old, and individuals who have been approved to travel by the Health Ministry and police.
For those who have not received both doses, the SOPs remain the same, with only two representatives from one household allowed to go out to purchase goods and a maximum of three, including the patient, allowed to travel for healthcare services, medical treatment, screening tests, vaccination, security, and emergencies.
Meanwhile, the number of passengers in taxis and e-hailing vehicles is limited to two people including the driver and passenger, the latter of which should sit at the back.
For vehicles carrying goods as well as those in other economic activities or industries (except worker transport), the capacity depends on the registration licence of the vehicle. For official department cars, the number of people allowed is based on the capacity of the vehicle. – Bernama, August 21, 2021
