KUALA LUMPUR – A handful of individuals linked to black flag protest organisers, Sekretariat Solidariti Rakyat (SSR), and their lawyers were summoned to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters here at 6pm.
In a brief statement issued by SSR, it said the individuals were called up to provide statements over a report lodged this morning.
“After lodging their reports this morning at the Sentul district police headquarters on Thursday’s violence and unlawful detention, a few SSR members entered Dang Wangi district police headquarters at 6pm to give statements over said report.
“Earlier, our lawyer Rajsurian Pillai was also called up to give a statement at the same venue.”

Meanwhile, Undi18’s Qyira Yusri tweeted that the police asked the group to surrender their mobile devices before entering the Dang Wangi station.

This morning, Klima Action tweeted that 14 SSR members that were hauled up after a vigil on Thursday lodged a police report this morning.
Among the individuals is a Klima Action committee member.

After Thursday’s vigil, 31 SSR members have been compounded RM2,000 each for violating the National Recovery Plan’s standard operating procedures by participating in an assembly at Dataran Merdeka.
Dang Wangi district police chief Noor Dellhan Yahaya in a statement said they were issued the fine after having their statements recorded.
“The Dang Wangi police compliance team detected a group of individuals who assembled at Dataran Merdeka for a programme to commemorate the deaths of Covid-19 victims.
“They were seen lighting candles and holding a banner bearing the words ‘Belasungkawa Jiwa-Jiwa Yang Telah Pergi’.”
By 8.50pm Thursday, police hauled up close to 17 participants at the memorial event.
Following what appeared to be a brief shouting match, the participants – all male – were rounded up and driven off in a Black Maria.
Seven Parti Sosialis Malaysia members, including a central committee member, were detained by police during the course of the vigil.
The seven central committee members are Chong Yee Shan, Bharathi Paneer Selvam, Gurpreet Singh, Sarah Irdina, Navin, Muaz Ishak, and Irfan Hafizuddin.
Including them, a total of 31 people were arrested and brought to the Dang Wangi police station.
Among those detained include Petaling Jaya city councillor Nalina Nair, Qyira, Tharma Pillai, and Nurul Rifayah of Undi18.
Thulsi Manogaran from the Centre for Independent Journalism, SSR’s Asraf Sharafi and Muda central executive committee member Khairi Zulfadhli were also among those arrested. – The Vibes, August 22, 2021
