SANDAKAN – The Sabah United Chinese Chambers of Commerce said newly appointed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is currently facing a “leadership quality test” and can win the people’s hearts only if he is successful in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic.
President Tan Sri Andrew Liew urged the Bera MP to transform the virus management mechanism of the federal government and pull the nation out of the pandemic and economic crisis.
Ismail Sabri must also sort out the pressing problems in the country to achieve health, economic and political stability, he added.
“The new prime minister must transform the management mechanisms of the federal government while putting the people’s interests as priority.
“His governance must go beyond his own political interests, and come up with new actions and policies that will have significant impact on the country.”
The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia vice-president said he hopes that Ismail Sabri will improve the business environment in the country and safeguard its economic development prospects.
He said he hopes that Sabah will be prioritised in the Covid-19 vaccine supply distribution as the state has a low vaccination rate. – The Vibes, August 24, 2021
