90% of Sabah’s 3,324 new infections in Categories 1, 2

KOTA KINABALU – Coronavirus cases in Sabah remain high today with 3,324 new cases logged, most of them with mild to no symptoms.

State Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun in a statement said 2,917 cases, or 90.48%, are in Categories 1 and 2, with 908 in Category 1 (asymptomatic) and 2,009 in Category 2 (mild symptoms).

Fifteen cases are in Category 3 (pneumonia), five in Category 4 (pneumonia and requiring oxygen support) and 21 in Category 5 (critical condition requiring ventilator support), he said.

He said another 266 cases are still being investigated.

A total of 315 cases (9.8%) are from a backlog of samples from over five days, while 322 cases (10%) are the results from samples tested over four to five days.

Kota Kinabalu saw the highest caseload at 630 infections, followed by Penampang (413), Tuaran (348), Papar (319), Sandakan (245), Tawau (189), Kota Belud (128), Keningau (120), Lahad Datu (102), Putatan (94), Kota Marudu (88), Sipitang (82), Beaufort (55) and Kinabatangan (53).

As of last night, 53.9% of the adult population in the state has received one vaccine dose, and 32.5%, both doses. – The Vibes, August 25, 2021
