[UPDATED] Nation adds 22,597 cases to Covid-19 count

KUALA LUMPUR – The country today logged 22,597 coronavirus cases, a slight increase from yesterday’s 22,070.

Selangor registered 5,814 cases, followed by Sabah (2,834), Sarawak (2,427), Kedah (2,162), Penang (1,920), Johor (1,896), Kelantan (1,289), Kuala Lumpur (1,111) and Perak (1,061).

Terengganu saw 739 cases, Pahang (579), Negri Sembilan (345), Melaka (269), Perlis (98), Putrajaya (48) and Labuan (5).

The latest infections take the national tally to 1,685, 510.

The Health Ministry reported 252 fatalities – 91 in Selangor, Johor (46), Kuala Lumpur (26), Kedah (18), Sabah (17), Penang (17), Melaka (13), Perak (7), Pahang (6), Sarawak (5), Negeri Sembilan (3), Kelantan (2), and Perlis (1).

The nation’s infectivity rate or R-naught value (Rt) currently stands at 1.01.

Sarawak recorded the highest infectivity rate at 1.23, followed by Perlis (1.21), Sabah (1.18), Penang (1.13), Johor (1.08), Kelantan (1.06), Kedah (1.04), Terengganu (1.03), and Pahang (1.01).

States recording a value less than 1.0 include Melaka (0.99), Selangor (0.96), Kuala Lumpur (0.83), Negri Sembilan (0.79), and Putrajaya (0.78), while Labuan registered Rt 0.

As for clusters, the ministry reported 1,468 active clusters including the 36 new ones identified today.

Twenty-three clusters involve worksites in Johor, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Sabah, Penang, Sarawak, Kelantan and Perak, with a cumulative caseload of 1,002 infections.

Twelve were community clusters involving Kelantan, Sarawak, Perak, Pahang, Sabah and Selangor with a total of 391 cases.
