KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia recorded a slight decline in new daily Covid-19 cases, reporting 19,268 cases today, said Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The health director-general said total deaths today stood at 295, bringing the toll to 16,382 since the pandemic started, while total infections are at 1,725,357.
He said 53 of the fatalities today were brought in dead.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the country logged 21,257 recoveries, pushing the total discharged to 1,443,262 cases.
Only 16 of the new cases today are imported, he added.
Currently, 1,033 Covid-19 patients are in intensive care, and 476 require breathing assistance.
Of today’s new cases, Selangor tops the list at 3,567 cases, followed by Sabah (2,310), Johor (2,265), Kedah (2,084), Sarawak (2,028), Penang (1,780), Kelantan (1,308), Perak (1,144), Pahang (788), Kuala Lumpur (672), Terengganu (544), Melaka (395), Negri Sembilan (269), Perlis (71), Putrajaya (41), and Labuan (two). – The Vibes, August 30, 2021
From the 19,268 cases today, 399 (2.1%) are of categories 3, 4, and 5, while 18,869 (97.9%) are from categories 1 and 2.
Noor Hisham said 14,664 (76.1%) of the total cases reported today did not have a history of vaccination or have yet to be completely immunised.
He added that the country has seen a total of 4,709 clusters, including 36 new clusters today.
Clusters that have ended are at 3,222, leaving 1,487 active.
Noor Hisham said 17 of today’s new clusters are related to workplaces, while 14 others are from the community, two are from high-risk groups, two are from higher-learning institutions, and one is from a detention centre.
The cluster with the highest new cases is the Pinggiran Goh construction site cluster in Kuantan, Pahang with 135 cases, while the cluster with the least number of new cases is the Seksyen 69 Pasir Tumboh workplace cluster in Kota Baru, Kelantan with seven cases. – The Vibes, August 30, 2021
