KUCHING – The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government said it is always open for discussion with any party to solve any problem for the benefit of the people and the state.
In his National Day message, Chief Minister Datuk Abang Johari Openg said that ideological threats are not yet over, especially from Western countries, according to a Malay Mail report.
“We should not be unduly influenced by undesirable elements through certain non-governmental organisations that want to destabilise the social and political situation in the state because at the end of the day, only the people of Sarawak can help the people of Sarawak,” he said.
He said these foreigners or outsiders, who are trying to influence Sarawakians by using all kinds of dubious reasons, will not be with them until the end.
“The state government under my leadership is always open to sincere and honest discussion with any group to solve whatever the problems or issues are, which could possibly be in the interests of the people and the state,” he added.
Abang Johari said as the leader of the GPS government, he wishes to reiterate that the coalition wants to see political stability at the federal level so the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic can continue to be intensified and the economy can be strengthened.
He said it will be a huge loss to the country if the Covid-19 pandemic is not stemmed and economic well-being plunges.
“This is the time for all of us to be united as Malaysians to fight our common enemy, which is Covid-19,” he said, adding that now is not the time for us to quarrel among ourselves for political and personal interests.
He thanked all frontliners who have worked hard to stem the spread of Covid-19 in the state to keep the people safe from infection.
“They are our heroes and heroines whose sacrifices and dedication we cannot repay, although the state government has tried to help them with several forms of assistance through special aid financial packages,” he said.
“Only God alone knows how significant their service is in protecting our well-being,” he said. – The Vibes, August 30, 2021
