KUALA LUMPUR – The Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today had a 30-minute pre-cabinet meeting online.

In a Facebook post by Istana Negara, the meeting started at 8.30am and is the first since Ismail Sabri was appointed prime minister.

“The pre-cabinet meeting is one of Al-Sultan Abdullah’s weekly activities to discuss and exchange views with the prime minister on government-related matters and issues.”

Ismail Sabri is expected to chair his first cabinet meeting today.

Among the issues he is expected to bring up is moving Klang Valley into Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) after the vaccination rate exceeded 80%.

Previously, the prime minister hinted at the matter and said it would be confirmed in a special committee meeting on Covid-19 with his cabinet.

Ismail Sabri is currently undergoing self-quarantine since August 30 after coming into close contact with a Covid-19 patient. – The Vibes, September 1, 2021
