KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob reminded all cabinet members that their ministries must prove their achievements in the first 100 days of the new government.

He said swift and coordinated actions are vital to liberate Malaysia from the Covid-19 pandemic and the economic and political turmoil the people have been enduring.

“All forms of assistance previously announced must be expedited. I will ensure that this cabinet is results-oriented, and that it prioritises the stability and safety of Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian family),” he said.

Ismail Sabri, who is the Bera MP, said this after chairing his first cabinet meeting held online as prime minister. He is currently undergoing quarantine after coming into close contact with a Covid-19 patient recently.

He took his oath of office on August 21, while the ministers and deputy ministers were sworn in on Monday.

Ismail Sabri said that the cabinet meeting focused on the importance of addressing Covid-19, and that all ministries need to move proactively to beef up public health and revive the economy for the benefit of the people.

Earlier today, he also had an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for an online pre-cabinet meeting.

Among the issues expected to be discussed are on redesignating the Klang Valley, now under Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan, as Phase 2 after 80% of the population is vaccinated..

Previously, the prime minister had hinted on this matter and said it would be confirmed in a special meeting on Covid-19 with his cabinet. – The Vibes, September 1, 2021
