KUALA LUMPUR – Less than a week into the job, Religious Minister Idris Ahmad had to explain himself after lawyer Siti Kasim took to social media to accuse him – wrongly – of wearing a Rolex watch, among others.
He tweeted that the watch he was spotted wearing is a Buruj timepiece that shows prayers times and the kiblat direction.
“I’ve had this Buruj watch for a long time. It makes it easy for me to tell prayer times and the kiblat direction.”
Siti had hit out at Idris, sharing a picture of him praying, with the caption: “Heard he’s the new religious minister now. Goes around praying on the floor of an office wherever he goes. Also wears Jawi name tag only. No BM.”
Minta maaf Ustaz sebab saya memang salah. ???❤❤❤

To this, Idris said he was praying in his new office, as he was easily able to determine the kiblat direction with his watch.
Following his explanation, Siti posted an apology, saying she got it wrong.
It also appears that her original tweet was taken down. – The Vibes, September 6, 2021
